Cows room freely throughout the city. It is illegal to harm a cow. Here a small group were eating on a pile of garbage near the Bull Temple. The fruits on the left are coconuts, which are valued as a source of good water. This is before they grow brown and the white pulp starts to form. People sell these green coconuts by the side of most streets.
